Protect Your Art Investment!
A When you purchase a glicee, (print of the original art on canvas), be sure to ask the artist for a Certificate of Authenticity. A Certificate of Authenticity adds value to your purchased art print. Here’s how:
In a Limited Edition, a certain number of prints are made. The number of prints is determined by the artist or publisher, and is a promise that no more than that number will be printed. Here’s how the L E will be indicated on the COA : “4/200”, meaning the print you bought is the fourth out of 200 that were printed.
Here’s how Value is created by LE’s: if the image you bought becomes very popular, and the entire series sells out, then the law of supply and demand occurs. Five years ago you may have paid $200 for a print, whose series has sold out, and more buyers are looking for a print. The price goes up. Your print will be worth what the market demands. So put your Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the artist, in a safe place. It may be the very document that could mean getting thousands of dollars on your $200 investment!
When you purchase a Limited Edition canvas print from Sage, a Personalized Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Sage, is included. The series number of the print is stated on the COA, along with the date of the purchase.
